Day Rooms and Hourly Hotels at Frankfurt Airport
Frankfurt is a connecting airport, and a lot of its passengers have six, eight or ten daytime hours between a long-haul arrival and an onward flight. Three products answer that: the MY CLOUD Transit Hotel sells rooms by the hour without leaving the airside, the Sheraton sells a Stay for the Day room five minutes’ walk from Terminal 1, and the napcabs cabins cover short naps. This guide compares them by hours, price and who is allowed to use each.
Airside, by the hour: MY CLOUD
The MY CLOUD Transit Hotel in the non-Schengen transit area of Terminal 1, near Gate Z25, is the only hotel at Frankfurt with a published hourly tariff. Rooms of about 10 sq.m. with a queen bed, a private shower, air conditioning, blackout blinds and free coffee are sold in blocks from three hours to 24, with the three-hour block starting at €94 in 2026 and longer blocks scaling up. Card payment only, no pets, no checked luggage, and new guests enter only between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm.
The catch is the location: you must hold a passport and a boarding pass for an onward non-Schengen flight, because the hotel is on the far side of passport control. A passenger arriving from Dubai and continuing to New York qualifies; a passenger arriving from Dubai and flying on to Madrid does not, because Madrid is a Schengen departure. A non-Schengen departure from Terminal 3 can still work, because the SkyLine has an airside section for transfer passengers, but you face a security re-screen at Terminal 3, so allow 30 to 40 minutes.
Landside, by the day: the walkway hotels
The Sheraton Frankfurt Airport, five minutes from Terminal 1 arrivals under cover, publishes a Stay for the Day rate: a room for daytime hours, typically from late morning to early evening, at a price below the overnight rate. Book it direct with the hotel, and ask for the exact window when you do. The same hotel sells a day pass to its Club Lounge for guests who want showers, food, drinks and a desk without a bed, which for a four-hour gap is often the better buy.
The Frankfurt Airport Marriott Hotel, in the same building, publishes no day-use rate, and neither do the Hilton Frankfurt Airport and Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport in The Squaire; whether they sell a room for the day depends on occupancy. In all four cases the practical approach is to phone the hotel the day before and ask for “day use” with your arrival and departure times; early check-in and late check-out purchases are a second route to the same result.
Short naps: napcabs
For a gap of two to four hours with a boarding pass in hand, the napcabs cabins in the A and B piers of Terminal 1 are quicker and cheaper than any room: €17 an hour with a two-hour minimum by day, €12 an hour with a three-hour minimum overnight, private, lockable and air-conditioned, with Wi-Fi and USB charging. Gateway Gardens and shuttle hotels
None of the nine Gateway Gardens hotels publishes an hourly or day-use rate, and neither does the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Frankfurt or the NH Frankfurt Airport. All of them will sell a full night at the overnight rate for daytime use if a room is ready, and the Moxy Frankfurt Airport and MEININGER Frankfurt Airport are cheap enough that a wasted night is not a disaster. Which to choose
Under four hours with a boarding pass: a napcab, or a lounge if you have access (see our lounges guide). Four to twelve hours between two non-Schengen flights in Terminal 1: MY CLOUD. Four to ten hours on the landside, or any connection involving a Schengen flight: the Sheraton’s Stay for the Day or a day-use request at the Marriott, Hilton or Hilton Garden Inn. Tips
Ask whether the day rate includes breakfast or lounge access; at the Sheraton the Club Lounge day pass sometimes makes more sense than a room. Book MY CLOUD ahead in summer and during the autumn trade fairs, because 59 rooms sell out. And remember the Schengen rule applies to the flight you are catching, not the one you arrived on: check your onward boarding pass before you plan an airside stay.
